We are conducting a research study at the University of South Carolina to better understand how caregiver training can support emotional regulation in young children receiving Early Intervention services. In this study, Early Interventionists and caregivers of children ages 1–3 who are autistic or have social communication delays and experience challenges calming down when upset will learn evidence-based strategies to support emotion regulation. Our goal is to understand how well these strategies work and fit in the Early Intervention system, support children's emotional development, and improve outcomes for families.
