Student opportunities & expectations

Undergraduate students
​​Students at the University of South Carolina commit to volunteering with COLAB for 8 in-person hours during the work week (Monday-Friday/ 8am-5pm) at the Institute for the Mind and Brain (IMB) for a minimum of two semesters. 

Skill development:
  • Weekly lab meetings
  • CITI ethics training
  • Elon video coding
  • REDCap data management
  • CAN trainee involvement
    • neurodivergent community engagement
    • soft skill development and networking events
  • Public facing science communication 
    • conferences including DiscoverUSC, SCAND, and more

Join COLAB!

Undergraduate students at UofSC: 
  • COLAB accepts undergraduate student research assistants (RAs) to start in August and January after an application and interview process in April and November, respectively.
  • We ask that students commit to at least two semesters in lab.
How to apply:
  • Please submit the application below, along with your CV, to [email protected] by November 1 (for a Spring semester/January start) or April 1 (for a Summer/June or Fall semester/August start).
  • Interviews for each semester will be conducted in the 3 weeks following the application submission deadline.​​
